The blockchain-ready Opera Touch browser for iOS is here. This was the next step for Opera since they already had Crypto Wallet support for Android and PC, which means that Opera is now ready for Web 3 on all three major platforms.

What exactly is Web 3?

Web 3 is a comprehensive term that includes cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and decentralized systems, which together extend the range of services provided by the Internet, allowing peer-to-peer payments between websites and users.

“We believe that the Web of today will be the interface to the decentralized web of tomorrow (Web 3).” - read on the official Opera blog.

With the built-in crypto wallet, the browser has the ability to renew and extend its role as a tool for accessing information, make transactions online and manage users’ online identities in a way that gives them more control.

The mainstream adaptation of Web 3 and cryptocurrencies

Web 3 still faces many challenges before it can be widely accepted.

Just to illustrate how quick the process is: before Opera entered the world of cryptocurrencies, almost a year ago, using cryptocurrencies online and accessing Web 3 required special apps or extensions, which made it difficult for people to even try it out.

Opera says that their browser is capable of removing that friction.
